Program Description:

This study center program considers some of Kenya’s most pressing societal challenges. Students will explore how urbanization, tropical environments, social class and culture shape public health in their classes at the Kenya Medical Research Institute, host to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Students also study Kiswahili, the lingua franca of East Africa. In addition to their coursework, students also complete either an independent study project or internship. As a required piece of this program, students will partake in three homestays, two in the urban communities of Kisumu and Nairobi, and one in a rural community.
