This study center program enables students to improve their Italian while also expanding their knowledge about Italy through a variety of electives. Whether students choose to live in an apartment with CET peers or in a Florentine homestay to practice Italian, students live surrounded by museums, churches, cafes, night life, and restaurants, and all accommodations are walking distance to the CET Center. Florence offers adventures like climbing the Duomo, having a apertivo, appreciating art at the Uffizi Gallery, or taking a pizza making class, and an overnight excursion to Rome is included for all students.
Please note:
CET Florence has a priority deadline of September 1st.
This program typically limits the number of students who participate by institution. Vanderbilt Study Abroad does not determine admissions decisions. As a result, students interested in this program are encouraged to apply early to both CET and Vanderbilt, talk with their Vanderbilt Study Abroad Advisor, and have a backup program selected. It is not first come first serve for Vanderbilt, but applying earlier in the summer ensures students have time to complete all CET requirements and application tasks before the deadline.
July 2025 Application Update:
CET will review and accept applications in order of successful submission. This includes making sure official transcripts are uploaded into CET portals. If students choose to “request” an e-transcript, they MUST go to their registrar’s website and ask that their official transcript be emailed to applications@cetacademprograms.com. Double check that this is completed.
Students can "submit" their CET applications without the home school recommendation form. This form will still be completed by the Vanderbilt Study Abroad Advisor after the September 1 deadline. This will not affect timing of submission or application status.
VISA NOTICE:
Beginning January 10, 2025, every student must visit their local Consulate to be fingerprinted.
The new requirement means students will need to personally travel to an Italian Consulate and secure individual in-person appointments. Batch processing will not be an option, and this will increase overall visa costs as well. At present, the Italian government is still working with their Consulates to establish the new procedures, which likely won't be made public until sometime in early January 2025.
