About Vanderbilt University-New York City
Vanderbilt University–New York City is Vanderbilt’s newest campus, established to expand the university’s educational, research, and community engagement in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.
Launching the Fall 2026 semester with it's inaugural cohort, the Vanderbilt University-New York City's undergraduate program, is a pilot initiative designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experience in New York’s vibrant industries. Students from across Vanderbilt’s undergraduate schools can participate in this immersive semester, combining coursework, internships, and cultural engagement.
Curriculum and Internship Breakdown
HOD students are required to engage in a three-stage process to complete their HOD Capstone as part of the Vanderbilt University–New York City Undergraduate Semester Program:
- Prerequisite coursework (to be completed in Nashville before participating in the program)
- Enroll in HOD 4949 Capstone Design on YES (to be done the semester before they plan to do their capstone experience in NYC)
- Academic capstone experience (done in NYC as part of the NYC Undergraduate Semester Program)
Students do not need to be in the Peabody School of Education in order to participate on this pathway. However, Vanderbilt University-New York City operates on a prescribed curriculum, meaning that there is a limited and specific class offering that all students on this pathway must take.
