In addition to coursework, students spend the last month of the program completing an independent research project, an arts practicum, or an internship. Homestays are an essential and integral part of the program.  Students experience an urban homestay with a Muslim family in Yogyakarta, Java, an urban homestay with a Hindu family in Kerambitan, Bali, as well as a rural homestay in the village of Tabanan, Bali.
