Program Description:

The Dickinson in Bremen program is a language-based, full-immersion program where students enroll directly in the University of Bremen. The city of Bremen is located in an historic part of Northern Germany on the beautiful river Weser and UNESCO World Heritage has declared the city’s market square a World Heritage Site.

The programs requires students to participate in a pre-semester orientation encompassing a minimum four-week, one-credit, intensive language course. Therefore, the main language of instruction is German AND no more than two courses may be taken in English. Students will live in dormitory style-apartments (single and double) near the university and under special conditions, students can opt out of dormitory-style apartments for private room rentals in Bremen.

The University of Bremen offers 100 different degree programs organized into 30 academic disciples and covers a wide range of subjects from the humanities and social sciences to the natural and engineering sciences. Known for their interdisciplinary, research-based learning in projects, and social commitments, the University of Bremen offers courses in Political Studies, European Studies, Geoscience, Oceans and Climate Research, Material Science, Health Science, and Logistics programs. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to participate in excursions, based on the student’s field of study, and are also encouraged to apply for an internship during their stay.
